A quick recap: an average adult can process 1 alcohol unit (~10ml pure alcohol) in an hour, and that’s roughly 1 cup (250ml, ABV 4%) beer 🍺, 74ml (ABV 13.5%) wine 🍷, or 1 small shot* (25ml, ABV 40%) spirits. So what’s the point of knowing the alcohol units in your drink? Before telling u the weekly limit, we wanna let u know there is NO such thing called the “safe” drinking level, and the weekly limit is supposed to lower your health risk. Both men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units per week. 14 units would be equivalent to 6 standard glasses of wine/ 8 cans of beer/ 14 small shots of spirits per week. Not only does drinking increase the risk of certain illnesses including cancer, it also plays a huge part on weight gain.
