š§We heard u asking...
Diet coke/ Coke zero/ Coke plus VS classic cokeš„¤
.
Since young, I heard that there are around 7 sugar cubes in a can of coke (yeah that's true). While consumers are more aware of health these years, beverages companies are developing more and more "no sugar" "fewer calories" versions of their drinks. For example, Coca-cola has been offering more choices of coke, like coke zero sugar, diet coke and coke plus, to customers by using sweeteners. We'll only be comparing these 3 in this post as they are the more popular choices with zero sugar and zero calories (There are some versions that have reduced sugar and calories, so please check the nutritional label firstā¼ļø) Please bear in mind that these versions of coke are REPLACEMENTS to the classic coke. As they also contain other additives, they should NOT be viewed as substitutes to water.
.
As coke plus contains dietary fibre, it would help slow down digestion (NOT STOPPING DIGESTION, so when you consume other foods, youāll still gain calories from them) and make you feel fuller, and hence a healthier version among the 3.
.
Although coke plus can be used as a fibre supplement, it cannot replace fruits and veggies for the provision of vitamins and mineralsš
.
While some of you might be concerned about the safety of sweeteners used, most sweeteners have FDA GRAS status (generally recognized as safe). Itās not detrimental as long as your intake is lower than the acceptable daily intake (ADI).
.
There are also other versions of coke which use natural sweeteners, for example, coke life (22g sugar & 89 kcal per can). Though the source of sweetener is more natural (extracted from plants), it is not necessarily healthier than artificial sweeteners since it does not come with any bonus positive health effects.
